back to the home of the Journey of the Magi

In September of the year 2000 people of good will from around the world participated in an extraordinary event: an historic reenactment of the wise men's quest to find the prophesied new king. On the 2000th anniversary of the original Journey of the Magi, modern pilgrims will travel by foot and camel as the ancients did and follow the first century caravan routes from the Euphrates River to Bethlehem.

The pilgrims gathered in Ctesiphon, on the Tigris River in Iraq. From there, they formed a caravan and travelled north along the Euphrates River. Turning west along the Great Syrian Desert, they followed the historic caravan route to Jerusalem. After a journey of more than 1000 miles through Iraq, Syria, Jordan Israel and Palestine, they arrived in Bethlehem on Christmas Day, December 25, 2000.

Although the historic journey is over we invite you to relive the pilgrimage through the eyes of the "magi."
